The world at large beleive that mutants are just in comics, and that there is no such thing as people with powers like those written by Stan Lee. But what you didn't know was that they are all real. The government learned of the growing number of mutants and decided to seek them out in hopes that they could use the powers to their advantage. These captured mutants were subjected to testing and were used to get other mutants in hopes of making the 'ultimate soldier'. The problem was, that people just want normal lives. Mutants just want to live out their days in peace, some more than others. So the government was forced to use brute force to get what they want, resorting to torture and blackmailing, even murder to get the mutants to cooperate.

As an escaped mutant from one of the facilities, Aislyn runs a safe haven for all those mutants that seek safety. The governor of New York signed an agreement that all those who reside on the premises of the school she was commissioning herself to erect were to be safe and untouched by the government. This is the only safe place for mutants to live and try to be normal. This is where the story begins, and where you too can have that little peice of normalcy that we all crave.
